A 2-Day Conference by Befrienders Mauritius

Marking 30 Years of Compassion — and a Future of Hope

 

Children are struggling. Parents are overwhelmed.

Today’s young people grow up in a world where bullying, isolation, competition, and emotional pressure are all too common. Many feel unheard. Many are hurting. And often, the signs are silent.

But what if we could learn to listen differently?

To build bridges instead of walls between generations?

That’s why we’re launching

« Silent Signs, Listening Hearts » — a 2-day conference around Youth Mental Health & the Parent-Child Connection

Held in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day and our 30th Anniversary, this event whose focus is on parents-kids relationship, or how to fuel a healthy affective parental link, will empower:

  • Educators
  •  Parents
  • Volunteers
  • NGO workers
  •  Concerned citizens …with real, practical tools to better understand, support, and connect with our youth.

Every day, more and more young voices reach out through the Befrienders free Hotline, whispering pain, confusion, and loneliness.

Their message is clear: “We’re struggling.”

In a world where bullying, pressure, violence, and isolation are part of everyday life, our children are growing up in emotional survival mode.

It’s time to act — to equip parents, educators, and caregivers with the tools to reconnect, support, and protect.

 

OBJECTIFS

Topics which will be covered in our Conference will include:

  • Suicidal behavior in adolescence: spotting the signs, taking action
  • Raising resilient kids for resilient communities
  • Helping children safely navigate bullying
  • Strengthening parent-child bonds in a chaotic world

All sessions will be led by expert psychologists and in parent-child communication and relationships.
